Scott Matthews – Our Time

Currently on tour with Robert Plant’s Saving Grace feat Suzi Dian, if you’re not familiar with Scott Matthews then where have you been hiding, under a rock? The Ivor Novello award winning songwriter has been making waves with his remarkable songwriting for a number of years. Back with emotive new number ‘Our Time‘, taken from his recently released album ‘New Skin’, the electronic indie track will certainly pull at your heartstrings.

On the inspiration behind ‘Our Time’, Matthews says “I wanted to unravel the beauty and complexity of the human heart; the fragility of a perfect moment in an imperfect world; to frame a snapshot of the life of two lovers. The baritone guitar, electronic beats and swelling sythesizers give this song its many layers of emotion”.

Detailing the feeling of coming out of lockdown raring for life to resume, the track also showcases the vulnerability we’re also feeling from the pandemic. Illustrating to always live in the present moment, ‘Our Time’ is forever optimistic and easy on the ears. Building with distinctive dynamics, the gorgeous chord progression in ‘Our Time’ is best described as effortless and poignant.

Robert Plant featured on Matthews’ sophomore album ‘Elsewhere’ back in 2009, speaking on the collaboration and the new tour dates, Matthews said, “It’s wonderful to rekindle our friendship and to be sharing the stage again with a rock and roll icon of the 20th century! Robert is someone I respect a great deal and it’s inspiring to witness his drive, incessant hunger and desire in his search for the next song.”
