Pilhouse – Hurt You (Review)

Indie rock band Pilhouse were formed by four music tech students in London. As a collective, they haven’t been together for that long, but have already released their debut EP demo back in December. Here with their official debut single, “Hurt You” secures the band within an experimental genre. It’s not 100% indie, but it’s not 100% progressive either. There’s a real human form within this track and the raw essence of it has really drawn me into the band.

There’s something sinister behind this indie track. It may sound simple in the verses, but there’s a complexity in the choruses that makes it sparkle that little bit more. It’s no wonder this track is getting a lot of attention. Filled with enthusiasm, the outfit are soon to summit their way to the top. I’m loving the ‘far off polished’ formation of the track as well. It doesn’t sound unfinished, but it doesn’t sound completely polished. It’s unique and a lot different to other ‘indie’ bands right now. Distinctive and a fascinating debut from the band.
