North East based singer-songwriter Tim Cox, aka the mind behind music project Bosola, stopped by to chat about dream collaborations, upcoming gigs and what the music scene is like where Tim’s based.

Introduce yourself (yourselves) and your hidden talent!
Hi! We are Bosola. I’m Tim and I’m the songwriter, vocalist and guitarist. We’ve got Pete playing bass and the brilliant Emma playing drums. We’ve formed together as a band in the last few months. Previously I played as a solo act. My hidden talent is listening which I guess isn’t something you associate with being in the expressive arts industry. I have a doctorate in psychology and work as an Educational Psychologist in the day. I also host a successful podcast about the Psychology of hope and have published some papers about hope.
If you could collaborate with anyone dead or alive, who would it be?
I would love to collaborate with Nick Drake. He had such way of weaving sweet melody with melancholy words, so beautiful. Such a shame he never found out the impact his music had on music and people. I’d probably let him know!
What’s in store for you for the rest of the year?
We’ve got some gigs lined up over the next 6 months in Newcastle and hopefully beyond, so we are looking forward to our live debut as a band. We are also going back into the studio with our producer James Haselhurst to record 4 more songs. We are really excited about both those things.
What’s the music scene like where you are from?
I’m not from Newcastle or the North originally, I grew up in South Wales but I think the North East Scene is great , bands wise. There’s such a variety of venues and lots going on when there isn’t a pandemic on. I’m just venturing musically out of Newcastle and hit on a rich seam of bands from Sunderland like Roxy Girls. The North East is a scene that keeps giving. I hope Bosola becomes an important part of that!
