Emerging pop artist ARAE releases debut single ‘Shotgun‘. French born ARAE crafts pop music with a hint of trap to it’s core. Influenced by the likes of Christine and the Queens and BANKS, this is an artist that refuses to follow the usual rulebook. ‘Shotgun’ tackles themes of depression and mental health right at a time where the world is feeling it more than ever. Promising to eradicate one’s inner demons, ARAE had this to say on the release, “I think of my depression as a being growing inside me, some sticky dark matter that’s eating me up slowly, dictating my decisions. While writing the song, I was thinking about how it would feel to get rid of this other me, if one day I retaliated. That would be it, the only murder you could get away with.”
‘Shotgun’ is an empowering release that may hit close to home. Hoping to raise awareness on social issues such as climate change, gender inequality and mental health within her music, ARAE hits the nail on the head in the latest release. Shot in the mountains of Alicante in Spain, where ARAE is currently based, the video was directed and shot by Valencian agency Kill The TV.
