Kar – On Our Own (Review)

Indie-pop trio Kar release their second single ‘On Our Own’. A new band with only a few months into their career so far, the band have been accepted onto the MAS Records scheme of helping emerging artists with free rehearsal space and recording time. Finding a shared passion in their musical styles, Kar formed while studying music at Bath College. Their debut single ‘Anything At All’ brought a lot of buzz for the band with it’s release back in June of this year. Championed by it’s emotive lyricism and memorable melodies, the debut single secured the talent in the band. Back with their follow up ‘On Our Own’, the single explores similar themes.

‘On Our Own’ is a tender track about who relationships influence life, for better or worse. Their haunting vocals, atmospheric guitars and melancholic lyrics rounds off a charming second single for the group.

Showcasing that the trio are ones to keep a close eye on, the downbeat nature of the track is elevated by the comforted vocals. Harmonies and unison blending with each other, the dream-pop essence will simply put the artists on the map. Dream-pop is huge at the moment and with the band drawing inspiration from what sounds like London Grammar, the trio could be the next big thing for MAS Records.
