BK Andersen – Sinking Canoe (Review)

Danish artist BK Andersen currently resides in Berlin. Here with his first release of 2019, he returns with the soulful ballad “Sinking Canoe”. With a subtle nod towards soul acts Tom Misch and Jordan Rakei, BK has a vibe that mixes those two with Hozier’s tone. It holds a warming glow from the start straight to finish and will sit heated within BK’s discography for years to come.

Describing the feeling of drowning within a relationship, the message of the song describes a relationship that’s near it’s end. Unable to save it, it drowns just like a sinking canoe. The number features a high level of vulnerability and honesty. It does feel at times that the song has reached it’s climax but does slowly but surely keep building. It’s aura is calm and will comfort you if you find the track relatable in anyway.

Score: 3/5
