Papa George, born in London from Greek Cypriot parents, is no stranger on the UK & European blues scene. Four decades of playing “live electric and acoustic blues” and now has reputation to be reckoned with. A quote from Muddy Waters guitarist, Bob Margolin, described George as being “A powerful Deep Blues player…a spectacular blues artist. He’s got power and nuance as a master entertainer”
To anyone new to your music, name 3 words that best describe your sound.
Lively- electric- honest
What’s your writing process like? Do you write the music or lyrics first?
Bit of both.
Do you prefer performing live or recording, and why?
Definitely Live, because it’s real and in the now. Recording is cool but once it’s recorded then it remains in the past.
What’s the best advice you’d give to your younger self?
Go by your gut feeling with what things make you happy and improve on getting good whatever that feeling is. Definitely read more books about the subjects that interest you and mix with people that share the same interests as you.
Never give up on it. Do the stuff that gives you pleasure and it’s more likely that others will get pleasure from it and respect you.Â
