Interview with Krispel

I caught up with TikTok icon Krispel to chat about writing processes, how the internet has impacted the music business from his perspective and why music has always been his main oxygen.

To anyone new to your music, name 3 words that best describe your sound.

I would say heartfelt, bouncy, and electric! You know it’s me when I’m playing.

What made you decide that music is the right path for you?

Music has been a language I understood my whole life. Nothing about me and music has ever been forced. There’s people that make music, play music, and there’s people that are music. I am music.

What’s your writing process like? Do you write the music or lyrics first?

First the beat is created. That’s a must for me. Reason being, the beat tells me what to say. The overall vibe of the beat speaks to me. There’s no questioning if I’m going to record on a beat. It’s either yes or no, depending on if the production sparks the creativity of songwriting.

What’s in store for you for the rest of the year?

During the rest of the year I will continue to flourish. I will continue to produce experiences for people to listen to, go live consistently on all different platforms, spread my love, enjoy nature, and simply be grateful to be able to exist.

How do you feel the Internet has impacted the music business?

Without the internet, I wouldn’t even be partaking in this interview. It is the main reason I’ve been able to spread my music across the world. The internet makes me and somebody in India practically neighbors. It’s incredible. Within a few clicks on a smartphone, we can reach billions of people that live thousands of miles away. The internet can make a bedroom artist blowup in one night.
