Tom Williams – Follow The Leader

Tom Williams announces a new collection of songs which focus on pre and post lockdown life. Titled “Follow The Leader“, this is the first single taken from his forthcoming album of the same name. With the album dropping this Summer, the release celebrates 10 years since his debut album was released. Armed with a nudge to a political side of music, ‘Follow The Leader’ takes aim at an older generation who long for a Britain that’s simply now lost. Written from the perspective of a young person force to flee their own country, this single is hard-hitting and emotive.

Isolation brought a whole array of new songs to the table for Tom, and new songs mean new energy. Tom explains this new-found experimental approach, “I swung between total despair and absolute elation during the recording process of this song. Some days it felt new and exciting and other days it felt like I was trying to be something I’m not. I love a lot of different genres of music and a lot of them have never made their way into my own music. I found myself creatively hemmed in by the precedent of a decade of my own music. It took me a while to realise I didn’t need to add to it, I needed to start again.”

“Follow The Leader” explores feelings of frustration, resentment and confusion – something we can all relate to during these uneasy times.
