Cheshire based songwriter Matthew Awberry, aka the mind behind solo project Allées, releases debut single ‘Shooting Up‘. Coated in shoegaze and psychedelia fragrances, the track channels influence from the likes of My Bloody Valentine, The Black Angels and The Brian Jonestown Massacre to name a few.
Described by Awbery as being “inspired by the grip heroin has on people,”, the artist went on to say, “I was watching a lot of documentaries at the time and became pretty intrigued with watching Pete Doherty writing on the walls in blood and that modern day squat-like aesthetic and how it’s become entwined with the classic image of a poet.”
Just under 7 minutes of pure heaven, ‘Shooting Up’ may be a long track but it holds your gaze throughout and is one hell of a journey through an experimental realm.
