Michelle Daly – In My Dreams

Do you ever have a dream that you never want to wake up from? Michelle Daly’s latest single is exactly that. A sensational single that you never want to turn off, ‘In My Dreams‘ is the second single from Michelle’s debut album, which was released last Friday. Teaming up with co-writer Michael Parle, ‘In My Dreams’ is a cross-genre number that is bathed in flair. A staggering second release, Michelle’s latest achievement, aims for the stars and goes beyond any expectation.

The upcoming album was recorded and produced by Charis Karantzas at Jazzanova RecordingStudio, Berlin“. A soulful track that could be the perfect asset to a killer Tarantino movie, the seductive track ventures through pathways of blues, jazz and trip-hop. Michelle’s warm vocals are captivating and bathed in pure beauty, “In My Dreams” could even fit onto a soundtrack for a show like Killing Eve, or even the James Bond franchise. Currently working on a collection of covers, Michelle’s busy year has been creative and turning the negative aspects of the pandemic into something special. ‘In My Dreams’ is definitely a track that I’ll be keeping in my ears for a while longer, and you should do the same.

Billy Boguard – Evergreen Scars

Billy Boguard’s new single ‘Evergreen Scars‘ is a contemporary pop number with folk buried into it’s roots. Armed with a passionate french accent within his vocals, the heartfelt new single was produced with British producer Dom Kirtley (Rick Leigh, Tom Misch, Scorecard). On the release, Billy states, “Evergreen Scars” is a song about Grief and loss, the end of a suspended moment in time, where two people met and destroyed each other, leaving scars in its aftermath. Coming to term with a situation, Healing wounds and Learning lessons are themes explored in the song.

Featuring a powerful drum beat behind it’s subtle electronic arrangement, ‘Evergreen Scars’ feels like the lovechild of Imagine Dragons and Dermot Kennnedy. A brooding single that’s only been out into the world for 3 days, ‘Evergreen Scars’ is mellow and hits close to home. A sort of escapism and reflecting on themes such as moving on and maturing, ‘Evergreen Scars’ is grown up yet let’s it’s inner child run wild. Fuelled with imagination and optimism, Billy Boguard’s songwriting is something special, that deserves to be in everybody’s households. Ending with the title being sung, the climatic ending is sensational.

Phoebe Coco – Silver Lives

What makes a debut single stand out? Something along the lines of originality and being a refreshing number within the industry’s chaotic sound, Phoebe Coco’s debut is ethereal and comforting. Titled ‘Silver Lives‘ is a lo-fi pop single that feels like an escapism from reality. Armed with a dreamy vocals, the video features Phoebe’s younger twin sisters Grace and Dorothy on vocals, who also feature on her forthcoming debut album. The story behind ‘Silver Lives’ is an original one at that, and began it’s journey by being the piece of music for the release of Alexa Chung’s ARCHIVE clothing range for Marks & Spencers. Taken from the recently released album ‘My White Horse and I’, ‘Silver Lives’ is bathed in memorable vocals that will bury themselves into your mind and heart.

“Silver Lives is filled with happy go lucky magic, a seaside world where everyday worries are cast aside.” Feeling nostalgic for a place or a memory that never happened, ‘Silver Lives’ is brimmed with acoustic and electronic instrumentation, and feels completely organic. Phoebe’s extraordinary voice captures listeners with it’s power to tell a story. Stream, buy and download Phoebe Coco’s latest album, it certainly deserves wide recognition.

P I O ft Tobi- A – Dunes

A collaboration sent straight from the heavens, ‘Dunes‘ is the cross genre yet prominently indie-pop number from Dublin based singer-songwriters P I O and Tobi- A. Somewhere between the avenue of lo-fi R&B and indie, ‘Dunes’ features harmony heaven. Layered with lo-fi beats, pulsating synthesisers, and powerful voices, P I O and Tobi- A’s vocals blend beautifully. Tobi- A says, “I think the song is really about tolerance, and real tolerance, not like what goes on in society today. I think the song’s message talks about how despite the fact that I have completely different views on life I can still respect and love you completely as a person which to me is true tolerance.”

‘Dunes’ twists through choral sensibilities and R&B infused instrumentation giving it a different feel to usual indie tracks you’d hear. About stopping and taking every moment in, this track feels like it cherishes the present moment and living for the now. The song was recorded and produced at P I O’s home studio in Dublin, and further mixed by Alex Nahayo and mastered by Zak Higgins. “Dunes” dropped last Friday and is certainly one of my personal favourite releases of the month.
