Izzie Yardley releases mellow, debut single ‘Aurelia‘. As a first attempt at self-production, Izzie Yardley’s elegant folk sound is remarkable. Channeling her inner Laura Marling, Izzie’s individuality flows freely with ease. ‘Aurelia’ features David Yardley (mixing, flute, engineering), Nick Pni (bass) and Nick Bennett from Revolution Mastering who mastered the track. Recording at Courtyard Studio in Kent, the vulnerable single is completely bewitching.
On the release, Izzie mentioned, “‘Aurelia’ was initially inspired by reading about Aurelia Brouwers, a 29 old Dutch woman who chose euthanasia in 2018, her reason being a continuing struggle with multiple
psychiatric disorders. Facing debate, she produced a documentary recording the last couple of weeks of her life. Whilst a difficult and contentious topic, I find it an important conversation and also fascinating insight into someone’s way of looking at death.”
An extraordinary release that literally left goosebumps on my arms.
