Crying Beauty Queens – Darling (Review)

Manchester based trio Crying Beauty Queens return with their first release of 2020 ‘Darling’. Recorded at Whitewood Studios in Liverpool, the track was mixed to tape, adding a vintage feel to it’s arrangement. Released March 18th to mark the 2nd birthday of the band’s formation, the new single draws influence from The Pixies’ dynamics and Cranberries melancholic mood. Giving the Manchester music scene a run for it’s money, this band are destined for their name in lights.

“Darling” is about being too scared to fall in love, but even though it’s fighting that feeling, it reassures listeners and comforts them in the hope that things can change. On the number, the band mentioned; “Darling” is a song that was written during a short writing break for the band last summer. Whilst spending the week together, we bonded over days spent listening to records and jamming in the front room, and one afternoon, the song all seemed to fall into place.

An electrifying single from an outfit that keep getting stronger with each release.
