Luton based post-punk band The Palpitations release their debut single “Siren”. Formed in 2018 by two junior doctors that bonded over their attempts to navigate the emergency department in their local hospital, each song of their’s is based on a true story of a patient encountered while in hospital. Throughout their tracks, grief is a common subject as the band weave through tragedies within the hospital. Achieving a different kind of level of personal, their lyrics reflect personal situations.
“Siren” is a dystopian, tragic anthem about a patient entering the downward spiral of addiction. Melodically fusing guitar lines to illuminate the raw story, the rhythm section chugs its way through with every heartbeat. Personal and honest, the truth may seem dark in this track but the band have surely made the darkness of the subject into something beautifully light. A storming debut single that signifies a vibrant career in the post-punk world for The Palpitations.
