Samuel Jack – In My Head (Review)

Emotive storyteller Samuel Jack returns with a powerful song that details the struggles on one’s mental health. With Samuel’s career blossoming with every release, he found himself performing at some of the world’s biggest festivals and even landing TV placements on Shameless and Nashville. As a different approach to previous single ‘Feels Like Summer’, ‘In My Head’ illuminates the importance of recognition and helping others with mental health issues.

Jack confides; “For me, I struggled with depression and anxiety – and in my eyes, despite having a history of mental health issues in my family – I’m certain my issues were born through situation and subsequently has come to affect every aspect of my life. Romantic relationships, professional ones; it really took hold of me”.  Inspired by Jack’s own experiences with mental health, the topic is personal and honest. Fusing compelling melodies and passionate vocals, ‘In My Head’ is a true musicians way of venting frustrations. With a comforting nature to reassure listeners that are struggling that things will be ok in the end, the track brings people together.

Score: 3/5
