Hallan – Men (Review)

Released back at the beginning of October, Hallanโ€™s latest single โ€œMenโ€ crafts their signature raw sound with a soulful performance. Based in Portsmouth, the post-punk quartet deliver an energetic performance both on stage and in the studio. Featuring aggressive instrumentation and honest lyricism, they let their music do the talking.

Hallan mentioned: โ€œ’We are alone on this island. The young men that you see every day are at sea on a piece of land surrounded by a sea of pressure and weight. Live a life of expectation and earn a wage. Cast aside your creativity in favour of a fake lie and never show yourself to the world. To be creative is a weakness and to show emotion might as well be a crime. We are the young men and we feel alone. I feel alone. I’m the doing the best that I can, there’s pressure in being a man.โ€™โ€

Making a statement with itโ€™s bold nature, the track feels somewhat heavy but powerful.ย With aย fresh indie flavouring, the punk influenced track takes anย experimentalย sound with itโ€™s spaciousย sound. A huge moment in the bandโ€™s career so far.ย

Score: 3.5/5
