Thrilling alternative rock group The Kid and I are back with an innovative release straight from the heart. ‘Wonder Pt. 1’ is a soaring alternative rock anthem best played loudly. What began as a solo project during the lockdown, quickly evolved into a full-fledged dream for Jacob Powell – to form his very own band. In February 2022, that dream turned into a reality, and The Kid and I were born. Powell says “Wonder Pt 1 is about grief and the damaging effects it has years after the event itself takes place and finding the strength to reach out and ask for help during it.”
If you like your music loud and in the sort of realm of Biffy Clyro, Foo Fighters and Blink 182, this band are definitely for you. A genre-bending gem that blends elements of emotion with progressive rock (trust me it works), the songwriting process of the overall EP that this track is lighted from became a profound reflection on loss, inspired by the passing of Powell’s father, grandmother and grandfather.
A remarkable effort that I won’t get tired of hearing.
