Cork-based Modern Folk Trio, The Lost Gecko, return with the third single from their upcoming EP ‘Scatterbox’. Having first released the haunting ‘Brothers’, and then the beautiful ‘I Can Hear Echoes’, now let’s ‘Snowdropping’…
To anyone new to your music, name 3 words that best describe your sound.
Soundscape, Ambient, Folk
What made you decide that music is the right path for you?
Music chose me really. I picked up the guitar at 16 by chance when my dads best friend left a guitar with me for the week. Life just isn’t the same without having an instrument close by.
What’s your writing process like? Do you write the music or lyrics first?
I generally write the music first or find a riff that pricks my ears on guitar or piano. If I get that, then I know the melody will find itself them Elaine adds Cello gold to it.
Do you prefer performing live or recording, and why?
Definitely performing live, the performance is a one off then it’s gone, that’s pretty spiritual to me
What’s in store for you for the rest of the year? We have 2 new Eps in the pipeline.
The next one is called ‘The Fox and the Lie’.
