I caught up with TikTok sensation and hip-hop artist Robsan. We chatted about future plans, hidden talents and writing processes.

To anyone new to your music, name 3 words that best describe your sound.

positive, melodic, and thought provoking

Introduce yourself and your hidden talent!

My name is Robsan and my hidden talent is skateboarding

What made you decide that music is the right path for you?

Music is something that has  always been a part of my life. In school, I was always the kid walking around with headphones on. Throughout the years, I had multiple phases of recording and I eventually decided to just buy the equipment myself and take up producing and recording. I realized that if I wanted to take music serious, it would be more convenient and cost effective to learn it for myself.

What’s your writing process like? Do you write the music or lyrics first?

I always start off by making a beat. Being a producer makes the creation process a lot more fun and limitless and I can switch up the vibe whenever I want to. Typically, I create a solid beat idea and then I start punching in bar for bar. Most of the time, I like to already have the beat finished for recording. Although recently I’ve actually found my self adding more at the end, to give me more space to work with my vocals. I always try to do new things because I don’t want get caught in a box with my sound. The process is forever a learning experience and the goal is to make sure it’s always evolving.

What’s in store for you for the rest of the year?

I’m dropping the music video for my biggest song Strivin’ feat. Krispel this next coming month. I’m definitely excited to see how it comes out. @ninentynineovrll is shooting it which is the same videographer who did the video for my song “Remember My Name”. If you saw that video you would know why I am pumped for this one. On top of that, I plan on releasing a few more singles to gain traction. After that, I’m dropping an EP or an album. It’s been a long time coming, and I’m excited to start expanding my catalogue. This year will be a lot of fun considering the fact that I now have people listening to my songs. It gives me more motivation to create and should also give me more opportunities to grow as an artist.
