Julia Jade – I’ll Be Your Christmas Tree

Behold! A Christmas song that hasn’t been over played and comes in a time of need. Julia Jade’s latest single ‘I’ll Be Your Christmas Tree‘ is an acoustic track with folk-pop sensibilities to it’s core. Written to hopefully spread some well needed cheer after a tough year for the world, Julia Jade draws influences from the likes of Dodie, Sara Bareilles, Carole King and David Bowie to name a few. Crafted at the comfort of home, this track feels like one of those songs that was destined to be born into the world. On the track, Julia Jade mentioned, “I wrote it for my partner who can’t go home for the holidays as a reminder that we can create some of our own Christmas magic.”

“I’ll Be Your Christmas Tree” is an emotive single that will easily pull on your heartstrings. “You always light me up” sums up the whole song. A number that’s ethereal and feels like a classic already, The Beatles would be proud of Julia Jade that’s for sure. A necessity to your Christmas playlist, this is one of the best Christmas tracks of 2020. Somebody get this track in a Christmas blockbuster! I’m looking at you The Princess Switch!

Sweet and Lonely – Best Years

Nick Elstad aka the genius behind project Sweet and Lonely returns with distinctive new single ‘Best Years‘. Starting out as a project to try out different styles of songwriting, it’s safe to say Nick has never looked back and keeps striving forwards with wonderful releases. Following in the footsteps of previous single ‘Daybreak’, ‘Best Years’ is somewhere between indie rock and hip-hop. Feeling like the lovechild of both genres, the atmospheric number even includes pop elements. Talking about the release, Nick mentioned, “This song is about getting old with the ones you love and realizing that though life hasn’t been as you expected, it’s been great in many other ways.”

Recorded, mixed and mastered at his home studio in Minneapolis, ‘Best Years” is a refreshing new beginning and feels like a track that would walk with it’s head held high if it was a living creature. A single that feels forever youthful, the release still has melancholy undertones to it’s reflective arrangement. An artist still at the beginning of his career, “Best Years” highly illustrates that the best years are simply to come for this musician. Turning the end of 2020 into a reflective wonder, Sweet and Lonely creates a comforting soundscape ready for world domination.

Sofia Dragt – Another One

Netherlands based artist Sofia Dragt is a composer, singer, pianist and producer. A multi-instrumentalist to say the least, “Another One” is the second single from the singer-songwriter and it’s covered in a passionate indie pop meets dream-pop soundscape. Written on the remote island Fleinvaer in the north of Norway, ‘Another One’ is poetic and a track that can soothe any storm. With three singles written in Fleinvaer, it seems that this town is the place to go to for inspiration. Sofia quotes, “The song is about being in constant development, always looking for new challenges and when that challenge has been completed, looking out for the new challenge. The consciousness of growing and that everything is changing and growing around you, doesn’t matter which way.

“Another One” feels cinematic and something you’d hear in a heartbreaking scene on your favourite tv-show. Armed with a downtempo production, the elevating sound will still grip onto your heart and find a way into your world. “Another One” is coated in a powerful hazy essence, giving the single a sort of cloud to float upon. A track that deserves to be shouted from every rooftop in the world, this powerful singer-songwriter is one to watch out for in 2021, you heard it here first.
