Cayley Thomas – Blue Jean Baby (Review)

Toronto based singer-songwriter and guitarist Cayley Thomas returns with the second single ‘Blue Jean Baby’ from her upcoming album ‘How Else Can I Tell You?’ (May 1st 2020). Featuring one of the most striking vocal range’s you’ll hear all week, there’s layers of personality in Blue Jean Baby that needs to be heard. Blending an indie presence in the new single, there’s a strong amount of pop to go with it too.

Cayley stated: “Blue Jean Baby” explores the pattern of feeling responsible for the emotions or actions of others at the expense of our own wellness. It’s like when you’re on an airplane and they tell you to put your oxygen mask on first before assisting other passengers.

As the first track I’ve heard from Cayley, the lo-fi pop wonder is one of my favourite releases of the week. Making a statement and featuring the most desirable instrumentation, Blue Jean Baby is a hit. Taking a somber look at the meaning of the track, the video highlights a true nostalgic range of colours.

Score: 5/5
