Synth-pop duo Alexandra Lost like sampling old records, writing strange poetry and turning knobs on ancient keyboards. Staying true to their interests, they return with funk-style wonder “Modern Feelings”. On the track, the duo stated that “it’s about a call to just get in a car and get over it. It sounds like fireworks at dusk, as orchestral pop meets smooth funk”.
Created solely on a funk-style beat, the song seemed to have written itself according to the duo. The vocal melodies came straight away and everything else fell into place. As the second single from their first full-length album with Pantoum Records, if the album is anything like this colourful track, we’re in for a treat. Diverse and creating something different, this is one of my favourite discoveries of 2020 so far. Plus, the song’s video chases psychedelia with a glass of mojito in hand.
