RINNGS – It’s Coming Back (Review)

London based alt-pop duo RINNGS are back with the infectious ‘It’s Coming Back’, via Globe. Comprising of Karl Zine and Nai Jannson, the track is the first single since last year’s critically acclaimed ‘Glorious’ EP. Gaining support from national press and leading music sites, the duo have been enjoying collaborations together and apart. Nai recently started working with Ray Davies of The Kinks and features on the current Kinks single ‘The Future’. Together and separately, the duo compliment each other with a contagious alternative pop sound that feels breathless.

Speaking about the single the band quotes “‘It’s coming back’ is about intoxicating relationships, that feeling you just can’t shake off! There are some people who just make your heart flip and you’re drawn to again and again. The song is full fantasy escapism, it takes you to a place where everything is good.”

Interweaving between melodic soundscapes, the glistening contemporary pop track is prominently electronic. Feeling somewhat human within the mix of digital, the live drums, slide guitar and vintage synths build a climax of layers. Dream like backing vocals surround the atmosphere with a glowing effect of nostalgia. A memorable moment in RINNGS blossoming career.

Score: 3.5/5
