Headclouds – Marmalade (Review)

North East based Headclouds are an alternative pop collective that bring spacious tracks to our reality. As for the name, ‘Headclouds’ refers to the out of body mental experience that we know as ‘day dreaming’. A cloud of smoke hovers our heads when we find ourselves daydreaming and they way that the quintet showcase this in “Marmalade” is ethereal. With previous singles gaining airplay on BBC Radio 1, Radio X and Amazing Radio, the new single is definitely up there with it’s past contenders. Signed to These Bloody Thieves Records, the band seem to have a radiant future ahead.

With it’s positive nature, Marmalade is the summer track that keeps on giving. You could listen to this in winter and it would still keep you warm with it’s smiling glow. It tells a story of being with someone who means a lot to you and them bringing ray’s of sunshine into your boring routine life. Luscious vocal harmonies serenade the atmosphere and dynamically, the track is like a rollercoaster of in’s and outs. A perfect blend of pop mixed in with indie.
