FYOHNA – Lie Down (Review)

LA based pop trio FYOHNA return with the infectious ‘Lie Down’. Formed in 2016 by singer-songwriter Katarina Gleicher and instrumentalist/producer Elliot Glasser, FYOHNA released their debut self titled EP back in 2017. After touring the east and west US coasts, they added a new addition to their crew, percussionist-songwriter Hayley Brownell. Reinventing themselves but still keeping their influenced roots at hand, they fuse a wide range of indie-pop with an alternative sound. Showering ‘Lie Down’ with a synth pop nature, the track is about self acceptance and self love. Taken off their upcoming release ‘Be Sweet’, the track has reached true recognition from across the globe.

In the writing process, Katarina mentioned that she initially through it was about jealously and competition. As the track evolved into what we hear today, she released the true meaning. “Who loved you better?” plays a strong lyric to the main message of the song; self love. Gelling chemistry, the trio piece together a puzzle that’s always been left apart. As humans, we always look out for love in others, when really we must love ourselves first before giving it to somebody else. Channing this message in the alt-pop number is truly breathtaking and a huge statement in the band’s career so far.
