Jillian Steele – No Expectations (Review)

Indie-pop singer songwriter Jillian Steele resides in Nashville, Tennessee. Bringing her own story to modern pop, she brings energetic melodies to life in new single “No Expectations”. Inspired by Maggie Rogers and Julia Michaels to name a couple, I can definitely hear a young Tori Kelly in Jillian’s aura. Co-written by Michel Heyaca and James Shelley (American Authors), the story behind the single tells a swift outlook on how people think that everything happens for a reason and how things usually sort itself out.

Written during a period of confusion, the smooth vocals are a prominent part that will linger in your head for weeks to come. There’s a strong depth in the acoustic based track, and the rhythm dynamically plays a big part. Delivering her own take of finding the light at the end of the tunnel, she brings a sense of empowerment throughout this track, especially for fellow females out there. As a debut single, this is strong and highlights a very successful career ahead for Jillian.
