An emerging singer-songwriter that oozes talent, Laura Gomes‘ debut EP ventures into love as an adolescent. “Bittersweet” focuses on the different stages of young love and the acceptance of every emotion.
“Bittersweet is a project which looks at the different stages of young love, your first love, which in most cases is really passionate but has an unfortunate end. Each track represents a certain emotion that comes with this puppy love. They vary from the sweet beginning of building up the courage to become more than just friends, all the way to the acceptance of a new chapter in your life without them. This acceptance is what ‘Home’ is all about.
A lot of people especially at a young age can lose themselves in a relationship, after all you’re still navigating your own youth and being in your first intense relationship really shapes who you are. The feeling of hurt in letting go, but knowing it’s what you need is one of the most confusing feelings; that’s what ‘Home’ portrays.”
Laura’s vocals are the standout addition to the release, and they capture the hurt of letting go of a lover. Sounding somewhere between Cat Burns, Reneé Rapp and Tate McRae, Laura could easily have her name next to these stars in no time.
