Interview with Husky

Reading based artist Husky is back with powerful new offering ‘Fly Away’. A glistening rap number with hip-hop elements throughout, the vocals flow freely and come across as entirely iconic. Created in his university accommodation, Husky found the beat via YouTube channel ‘smazzebeats’ and the rest was simply history.

What made you decide that music is the right path for you?

One day, during lockdown I was sitting in front of my computer and I asked myself and pictured my future  “Will I enjoy my future if I continue with this path” and the answer was pretty complex, “yes” I enjoyed my previous ambition which was music video editing but could I live a life just doing that forever, And my answer was “no” but then a certain feeling dragged me towards my I intuition which was screaming “MUSIC!!”.couple mins later I decided, “This is what I’m going to do”.My angels sent me a burst of feelings, hard to explain something I’ve never felt before and from then my intuition has been my best friend

Who are your main musical influences and why?

I have a couple of musical influences, not only due to their music but also their personalities, For example, Drake has always held a sense of relatability and projection of emotion through his music which I value a lot in this type of art also being able to jump on any genre, J.cole is able to make you understand things and push wise thoughts into his lyrics that will make you think and also guide, Lil uzi influences me by the way he makes music and portrays himself, not caring what anybody says and having 100% confidence in whatever he does kinda like Prince and lastly XXXTentacion he really influenced me by watching his story and his course of change  also having the mentality to stick by your principles regardless of who it is

If you could change about the music industry, what would it be?

I would change the way people think of music nowadays, it feels like a lot of artists nowadays do music for the wrong reasons and forget music is an art and something that should be natural and not influenced by external factors. in short, Make music for yourself.

If you could collaborate with anyone dead or alive, who would it be?

I will collaborate with J.cole one day, Due to the meaning of his music, which made me open my eyes to the real world in my lost days, Also because I wouldn’t want any of my collaborations just to be for financial or business gain, I would also want to learn something from the other or just kick it together because  conversations are really valuable in this life

What’s the best advice you’d give to your younger self?

“Never Conform to the Norm”

“Don’t stay asleep in your dream world”

“Leave your fears to your angels”“Gotta have 0 doubt”
