Interview with Anita Luki

London based singer-songwriter Anita Luki is an artist that won’t be leaving your playlist anytime soon. Having performed across New York, India and UK (including Glastofest), the songstress is back with R&B offering “LYM ‘love version’”. Armed with a stripped back production and elegant vocals, the track is emotive and bathed in a powerful arrangement. On the release, Anita shares, This is a conversation between my present and younger self”.

What made you decide that music is the right path for you?

I don’t think it was ever really a decision, it was almost just a life known fact to myself in terms of how I envisioned my future! Iv always struggled with self-confidence and I think that’s held me back a lot with putting myself out there but as I started writing music more it was a no brainer. These stories are mine to tell and I think a lot of people would be able to connect with the messages of my songs.

If you could collaborate with anyone dead or alive, who would it be?

Right now it would be BTS or Agust D and if they were still alive it’d be Tupac

What’s the best advice you’d give to your younger self?

To take those chances!  Don’t question yourself and don’t let anyone dim your light. You have got this.

Give our listeners some music recommendations that we should check out!

Vancouver Sleep Clinic, BTS, Agust D. And Anita Luki! Haha

Tell MoggBlog viewers about your latest release! What’s the inspiration behind that?

The new track is called ‘LYM’ and it is from my EP ‘love your mind’ which is essentially what LYM stands for. Its pretty much the final chapter of this ep and is a conversation between my present and younger self. That younger version always believed in and had the highest hopes for what I’d become. A lot of what I do now is to make that younger me proud. So this song really is a conversation between those two versions of myself. To be honest, I think when you listen to it it can be applied to anyone around you, a family member, partner or friend. I released this ‘Love’ version first which is a more chill/ stripped r&b mix of the main song coming out next month. The main track is out on December 13th and is more upbeat with darker trap/r&b baselines. By hearing this version first you get to understand the emotion behind the track better.
