Emerging artist KOATES returns with lush new single ‘Japanese Trees’. Receiving support from Abbie McCarthy at BBC Introducing, the new single is equipped with a lush soundscape and conversational lyrical style. Armed with emotive vocals and a radio-ready production, KOATES is about to rock South London’s music scene once and for all.
Speaking on the making of the video KOATES said, “Because Japanese Trees is about running away from all your problems, filling a void only to realise that no matter how far you go or how much money you spend on papering over the cracks you always return ‘home’ sh*t. There is a lyric in the song ’she says we should go East like the earth spins’ and so I did! I took €100 and saw how far I could go in 24 hours.”
Following the success of his debut single “Somebody New,” KOATES is moving towards a mature sound tinged with honesty and a little bit of darkness as his hazy voice and personable songwriting leave you wanting more.
