What’s your writing process like? Do you write the music or lyrics first
The writing process for me changes from song to song. If I’m working on a ballad I’ll usually come up with some chords or a musical riff on the piano or acoustic guitar, then I start coming up with the vocal melodies and putting lyrics to them. I like keeping it more old school haha. However If I’m working on something more uptempo most of the time I’ll produce a beat so I can get into a vibe and then I start singing gibberish vocal melodies. Once I get some melodies I like I start putting the lyrics to them. No matter what kind of song I’m working on the recorder on my phone stays recording! This is one of the most important elements because half the time I don’t know what I’m singing and forget what I sang. When I listen back to the recording I go “ooh I like that one!” Lol!
Do you prefer performing live or recording, and why?
You know what, I love both! Recording is special because you feel the record come together in stages and as it develops you start getting excited with ideas of what you can do with the song and how to release it. But there’s nothing like the feeling when you’re performing the song you worked so hard on in the studio live and see the audience appreciate it and sing along! So for that reason I have to give this one to performing live!
Tell MoggBlog viewers about your latest release! What’s the inspiration behind that?
It’s a song that I think many can relate to. It’s simply talking about love & relationships and how difficult they can be, but even through the constant challenges we always crave it and at the end of the day love is what I believe we all live for. It’s simply amazing like the title.
How do you feel the Internet has impacted the music business?
The internet has created social media and YouTube which both have massive pros and also some cons. I love that from our smart phones and laptops we can create and share content to the whole world at the click of a button. When I started in music every artist needed a record deal to really be heard. That’s not the case anymore. At the same time I feel like now the music scene is so saturated and sometimes it feels like it’s more about being an influencer or what’s trending rather than the actual talent or quality of the music. All in all I’d say the internet is a major benefit!
