Receiving praise from the likes of CLOUT, NOTION and Daily Advent, Anthony Vince is the talk of the town in the alternative hip-hop world. I caught up with the talented artist to chat about his writing process, advice he’d give to his younger self and what’s in store for the rest of 2021.
To anyone new to your music, name 3 words that best describe your sound.
Alternative, bright, distorted
What’s your writing process like? Do you write the music or lyrics first?
I always start with creating the beat first. Usually start with some drums or a bassline and build from there. Then I start writing lyrics or finding the flow that I think first best with the rhythm of the song.
What’s the best advice you’d give to your younger self?
Be patient. I still try to tell myself to be patient during the process. Also, be yourself, don’t try and make music based on what you think others will like.
What’s in store for you for the rest of the year?
This was a big project for me, and it took a lot of time. Next will be a video for one of the songs and continuing to work on new music. Hopefully some live shows eventually.
Tell MoggBlog viewers about your latest release! What’s the inspiration behind that?
This release was really just about trying to get out of my own head and to stop overthinking. To write about the things I was overthinking about and try to turn them into art. Not out of the woods, is like I’m becoming a better artist/ version of myself, but I’m not all the way where I want to be.
