Inspiring singer-songwriter Tash Hills dropped by MoggBlog HQ to have a chat about dream support slots, music recommendations and what’s in store for the rest of the year.
To anyone new to your music, name 3 words that best describe your sound.
Fun, Upbeat & Funky
Do you prefer performing live or recording, and why?
I absolutely love playing live! When you are on stage and there is a buzz in the air, the excitement and endorphins just kick in! There is nothing like being able to perform your own material and see the crowd’s response and feel their energy back! Its such a creative space where you get to just see what happens and where the vibe of the crowd takes you.
What would be your dream support gig? Bonus points for place/venue.
Omar and the venue would have to be the Jazz Café, London. That would be amazing! Omar is a huge inspiration to me and my music. To be able to perform on the same line up would just be a dream come true!
Give our listeners some music recommendations that we should check out!
Go check out Billy Vena – new up and coming Pop Funk sensation, 3 singles dropped this year which are absolute dynamite and last year he released his smasher of a song ‘Disco Maniac’!
Joy Denalane – Her album ‘Let yourself Be Loved’ is a homage to everything Soul and Motown with a 2021 flava!
Prep –My best find of 2018 and still going strong in my daily listens! Steely Dan meets uber cool funky pop. Catchy, feel good vibes to sing your heart out to!
Temptress – I heard their song on Spotify on my Discover Weekly, and I cannot stop playing it! This London soulful duo are gonna be big! – ‘SOS’ is an absolute exquisite bop!
Mac Ayres – This uber talented multi-instrumentalist has the most gorgeous voice – its like butter! He produces album after album of absolute gold! I am yet to see him live, roll on when he hits the UK, imma be there fo’ sure.
What’s in store for you for the rest of the year?
We will be releasing another 2 songs, one the second week of June an the other the second week of August which is exciting. The plan is then to release a vinyl with the 5 singles on. After that we will be putting together the band to start rehearsing for live shows in 2022! We will be consistently writing & getting new material together.
