Storming back onto the scene with her first single of the year, Emma Mae’s new single ‘Boys in Bands‘ is a youthful, indie-pop anthem. Named after many of the 21-year-old’s not so romantic encounters, ‘Boys in Bands’ delivers Emma’s personal experience on the matter. Born in Leicester, now based in Cardiff, this singer-songwriter has already received support from BBC Introducing in the Midlands.
On the track, Emma Rae explains, “This song and its materials aim to raise some awareness of the drastic impact the pandemic has had on the music scene in the UK, specifically in Cardiff. The ‘boys in bands’ photoshoots, and album artwork were all shot on the empty Woman by Street, on the one-year anniversary of all of its popular venues closing due to the pandemic.“
“Boys in Bands” is an adventurous indie-pop track to simply get lost in and forget any sort of worries you may be feeling today. Elaborating on real events, the track feels like Emma is closing a chapter and having a fresh start.
