A euphoric release that catapults you into a realm of indie goodness, “9/10” is a shoegaze-inspired release that made me fall head over heels the first time I heard it. Moon Worm was born out of necessity. Jack Schaefer grew up on a farm in rural North Dakota, loving indie rock but having no one to share his passions with. Exposed to the music of Tame Impala, Beach House, M83 and Mac Demarco during his college years, you can hear these influences reflected throughout.
Speaking about the release, Moon Worm shares: “The track reflects a desire to see the world and have adventures but also the fear of leaving something behind i the process. It’s a way of giving yourself permission to move on to bigger things in life and move on from the past.
The overall feel of the track has a space-age feel to it, making it come across as futuristic yet there’s moments of nostalgia that leave you remembering happy times. Indie music like this will stay in my heart for years to come.
