Taken off Max Gowan’s album ‘Last Companion’ out now, ‘My Kind‘ features vocals from Caroline White aka Infinty Crush. A mid-tempo track with indie rock and lo-fi fragrances, the wide soundscape arrangement flows with elegance.
Max Gowan says, “My Kind” filters the ear-worm melody of 90’s power pop bands like Superdrag and Matthew Sweet through the shoestring-shoegaze sheen of (Sandy) Alex G and Squirrel Flower recalling that knife’s edge where uncertainty about one’s capacity to truly show up for someone else can overwhelm and threaten to take it under or make it stronger. Featuring Caroline White’s (Infinity Crush) commanding vocals as both a counter-point verse and as a imbuing force throughout the track and Nate Wagner (Lord Bendtner, Leaaves) on additional guitar, “My Kind” blooms and swells into a driving chorus that offers some kind of resolution – a sense of solidarity in watching the world end.“
