blankface – Bonzai Trees (Review)

Welsh electronic producer ‘blankface’ returns with the second single “Bonzai Trees”. Influenced by hip hop rhythms and trip hop flavourings, there’s an atmosphere created that’s similar to Flying Lotus and Thundercat. Taken off the upcoming album, that will be out next month, the experimental groove within the track is simply breathtaking.

Inspired by keeping a strong groove throughout, the instrumental features a luscious chord progression bathed with synth swirls. There’s a vintage sound buried within the arrangement creating a nostalgic feel for the track. It’s a soundscape that you can get lost in and before you know it, you’re left wanting more. Love how you can hear many influences within the track. The upcoming album “Somewhere I Doubt You’ll Find” will be released August 13th. Confirmed to be a journey of instrumental goodness, Bonzai Trees sits at the top of it’s game, raring to go for the next round.
